WINTER HOLIDAYS

(Kate Sylvester Penny top; Caramelised onion and feta tart via peasepudding.wordpress.com; image via filmstills.tumblr.com; unknown; unknown; Blackbox outlet store; unknown)

One week till the winter holidays, and although I have a HUGE amount of work to finish in this time, all I can seem to do is dream of what I'm going to do once this nightmare of a term has come to an end and I can properly enjoy winter...
Study a little bit, practice some nail art, go to the Black Box outlet, and the Kate Sylvester sale, bake some pretty birthday cakes, cook yummy winter food- quiches, tarts, Moroccan, Jamie Oliver..., go on some winter bike rides, finish all of my Sex and the City DVDs, have a winter fondue dinner, red chicken curry, get my learners, finish off some of the sewing projects I've started, finish reading The Secret History, ♥ sleepovers , out for dinner and breakfast, early morning walks, play a bit of tennis, visit the Salvation Army stores which I haven't been to in months, find a new job.

ALEXA'S NAILS

(Alexa Chung's nails; can't remember sources)

I am a MASSIVE nail polish/nail art freak. Everything is so much more fun with painted nails, I am constantly going through new nail obsessions; Chanel's holographic nail polish, clay fruit nails, over the top Japanese nail art, Butter London's non toxic nail polishes, silver foil nail wraps, Meadham Kirchoff for Topshop nail stickers, OPI rainbow connection and Absolutely Alice (Which had me searching without success shops in both New Zealand and Australia)...never really got into the shatter nail polish trend though. With nail polish, the tackier and more five year old girlyish the better!!
And while I LOVE Lana Del Rey's long, long nails I prefer short nails on myself.
And so I have been quietly admiring Alexa Chung's nails for a while now... I think it's about time that I invested in some nail pens.

TUPAC

(Tupac Shakur 1995 being interviewed by Police)

This video reminds me how intelligent and wise Tupac was. And why I respect him and his music so much.
At the moment I'm basing my school paint portfolio on the impact and power of black culture and hip hop/ rap music on society, particularly the impact of gangsta rap in the late 1980s-1990s- and so this interview is so interesting showing Tupac's attitudes towards the impact of his music and his music being regarded as being gangsta rap.

MONTHLY WANT LIST

( Chloe bikini, Karen Walker jacket, Minnetonka thunderbird moccasins, Kate Sylvester sunglasses, Comme des Garcons wallet, T by Alexander Wang singlet, Marni underwear set, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Mary Janes, Stolen Girlfriends Club velvet jacket, Topshop sequin shorts, Playboy x Supreme jacket)

These are the things which I am dreaming of wearing at the moment, what appeals to me never really changes, most of this stuff i've wanted for ages, my style is a mix of classic basics (e.g the Karen Walker jacket and Kate Sylvester sunglasses) with a little bit of street (e.g. the Playboy jacket) and some tackiness (e.g. the sequin shorts)

Also I have an urgent message for anyone reading this; please if you or anybody else you know owns the Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Mary Jane shoes and want to sell them, please let me know I am desperate and I can't find them anywhere!  Thanks I love you!!

LAURA BAILEY

(Images of Laura Bailey via Zimbio)

Laura Bailey is an English writer and model and I've only known about her for about a year, but already I've compilled a slightly creepy amount of photographs of her outfits.
She has great hair and although i'm a short skirt sort of girl I really admire how she usually wears long skirts and dresses.
Also she's a 40 year old mum of 2 and she looks better and cooler than me and most other people my age. damn

TATI

(Tati Cotiliar by Benny Horne for Oyster Magazine)

The reason I've posted this editorial is not only because I love it, but also because it's reminding me of...I know I promised I wouldn't mention them again but...the One Direction Hype. Particularly because they are arriving in new zealand today and I cannot wait to see the news tonight to see the crowds of girls (probably including me)screaming, crying, singing and following them around Auckland.
But anyways, love this editorial even more so because of its relevance at the moment.

RED DESERT

Il Deserto Rosso is an Italian film made in 1964 by Michelangelo Antonioni.
My favourite gurl Monica Vitti is the star which is even more reason that I need to see this film asap.
The films about the woman hiding her mental illness from her husband while also struggling to survive in the modern world full of existentialism and pessimism.
OK kewl sounds a bit like my type of film.

Anyway what really draws me to the film is the amazing amazing amazing cinematography which I see in these screen shots. Pastel colours, fogginess, red, industrial areas.
Each screenshot looks like a work of art.
Not to mention the fact that Monica's outfits are just as amazing, I think I am an Italian reincarnated.
I love her woollen blacks paired simply with the gold chain, her black cardigan with cream shirt and usually shoes from this time period make me cringe a little but I love the shoes which she wears in the film.
Must go and find this film!!
